Poor Clares

About the Poor Clares

Like the First Order of Franciscans, which includes the Order of Friars Minor (OFM), the Conventuals (OFM Conv.) and the Capuchins (OFM Cap.), the Poor Clares are divided into several different branches. These are sisters whom the brothers of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe serve, in a variety of ways.

  • The Order of St. Clare (OSC)
  • The Order of Poor Clare Colettines (PCC)
  • The Order of Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration (PCPA)
  • The Order of Poor Clares Capuchin (OSC Cap.)

The Order of St. Clare

The sisters of the Order of St. Clare (OSC) have a special, institutional relationship with the brothers of the Order of Friars Minor.

This includes the brothers of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The U.S. monasteries of the Order of St. Clare are federated as the Poor Clare O.S.C. Federation U.S.A.

The Order of Poor Clare Colettines

As their name suggests, these sisters honor the reforms of St. Colette of Corbie. They have a single Federation in the U.S., Mary Immaculate Federation.

The Order of Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration

The Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration are, as their name indicated, dedicated to perpetual eucharistic adoration in a spirit of reparative thanksgiving.
