Br. Edward Boren, OFM, 87, passed away on July 10, 2024, at Envive Healthcare in Indianapolis, Indiana. A native of Indianapolis, Br. Edward entered the novitiate on June 21, 1956; made simple vows on June 22, 1957; professed solemn vows on June 22, 1960; and was ordained to the priesthood on Jan. 19, 1964.
Over the years, Br. Edward primarily served in educational and pastoral ministry. His ministry included serving as a teacher, head of the math department and registrar at Hales Franciscan High School in Chicago; a teacher St. Francis Academy in San Antonio; pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Von Ormy, Texas; a teacher at Holy Cross/St. Gerard in San Antonio; assistant pastor and teacher at St. Joseph in San Antonio; pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Falfurrias, Texas; pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Bay City, Texas; pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church in Houston; Hispanic ministry at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church in Indianapolis; and administrator of St. Timothy Parish in San Antonio.
Br. Edward is survived by family members, friends and friars of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 1530 Union Street, Indianapolis, IN 46225. The funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m.
