Br. Michael Dubec, OFM, 78, passed away on May 5, 2024, at Woodward Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
A native of East Chicago, Indiana, Br. Michael entered the novitiate on Aug. 14, 1967; made simple vows on Aug. 15, 1968; and professed solemn vows on Aug. 15, 1971.
Over the years, Br. Michael served in a variety of ministry roles focused on fraternal service and vocations. He also served as assistant spiritual director for the Secular Franciscans and as a retreat team member. His assignments included St. Francis Friary, Franciscan Formation Center and St. Francis Retreat House in Easton, Pennsylvania; Seven Dolors Shrine in Valparaiso, Indiana; St. Mary Friary in Columbiana, Ohio; and Mother of Good Counsel in Hazard, Kentucky. He most recently served in fraternal ministry at Duns Scotus Friary in Berkley, Michigan.
Br. Michael is survived by family members, friends and friars of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Visitation will be held Monday, May 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Our Lady of La Salette Church, 2600 Harvard Road, Berkley, MI 48072, followed by the funeral Mass at 7 p.m. Internment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 25800 West 10 Mile Road, Southfield, MI 48033, on May 14 at 9:30 a.m.
